Newest Bilingual Chinese-English School 

Established in 2017, Han Academy is one of Hong Kong’s newest bilingual Chinese-English schools to follow an international curriculum. Han Academy accepts students from Year 1 all the way to Years 12 and 13. The Cambridge International Curriculum is employed for Years 1 – 11, with students sitting their IGCSEs in Year 10. They are able to choose from a selection of courses from the following groups: Languages, Humanities, Science, Mathematics, Creative and Vocational. Students later select either the IB International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) or the A-Levels program in Years 12 and 13. Here, 9 courses are offered in both pathways.

Han Academy is located in Hong Kong’s Southside. Though the school is still in its infancy, they are selective with admissions, examining not only past academic attainments but also contributions to sports and artistic endeavours. The academy is built on three pillars: strong bilingual ability and identity, strong foundations in Mathematics and Sciences, and a solid awareness of community service and leadership.

What’s special about the school:

• A key feature of this school is its small class sizes of only 12 students in the primary years and 16 in the secondary years.
• The staff-to-student ratio is 1:5.
• Han Academy boasts world-class teaching staff, with 63.16% of staff having obtained PGCE/PGDE degrees, 68.42% of staff with Mphil degrees, and more than 10% of staff with PhD’s.
• Their Chinese curriculum is strong, embodying four branches: Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese Library Course, Chinese Debate and Chinese Drama.
